Centre for Complex Systems and Interdisciplinary Studies [CCSIS]
First Action: Preparing and developing: Training workshop teaching labour in coastal universities
Collaborate with Industry Partners:
• Partner with local businesses, labor organizations, or government agencies related to coastal labor.
• This collaboration can provide real-world insights and networking opportunities.
Panel Discussions:
• Arrange panel discussions on current issues or trends in coastal labor markets.
• Include representatives from academia, industry, and government.
Networking Opportunities:
• Schedule breaks and networking sessions to allow participants to connect with each other and with speakers.
Promote Sustainability:
• Align the workshop with sustainable practices, considering the coastal environment.
• Encourage discussions on sustainable labor practices.
Resources and Materials:
• Prepare materials such as handouts, presentations, and resource lists for participants.
• Consider creating a digital platform for ongoing discussions and resource sharing.
Seminar / Conference: Labour and Employment in the Fishing Sector for Coastal Universities
There are several Centres for Complex Systems and Interdisciplinary Studies around the world:
- Centre for Complex Systems Studies (CCSS) – Utrecht University1: The CCSS aims at scientific breakthroughs as well as novel solutions for societally relevant issues by approaching existing problems from the perspective of complex systems science. They offer a Bachelor’s minor, a Master’s profile, and a summer school programme to educate students in complexity1.
- Centre for Complex Systems – Jawaharlal Nehru University2: This centre focuses on the studies of driven systems composed of a large number of interacting individual components which may have emergent behaviour, hierarchical organization of diverse integrated functional modules which obey their own laws, and whose individual activities are generally nonlinear in nature2.
- Center for the Study of Complex Systems (CSCS) – U-M LSA34: The CSCS features an outstanding roster of faculty who continue the tradition and evolution of interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research3.
- Center for – Indian Institute of Technology Madras5: The aim of the center is to provide a common platform for researchers from different disciplines and contribute to the development of new techniques and tools for mathematical modelling and analysis of complex dynamical systems5.
How to promote and support: Labour and Employment in the Fishing Sector for Coastal Universities
Labour and Employment in the Fishing Sector for Coastal Universities (LEFSECUs)
• Labor laws and regulations: domestic and migrant fishers
• Workplace safety in coastal areas.
• Employment trends in coastal regions.
• Sustainable labour practices in coastal industries
